For parents
Piklu is a collection of free learning games for children: number work, words, logic puzzles, shapes, and board games against a friendly owl. There are no ads and no sign-up. A child picks a game and plays.
Finding a game
Every game belongs to one topic. Tap a topic to see its games:
You can also search the games page for a subject ("multiplication", "spelling", "fractions") or for a puzzle by its usual name ("word search", "hangman", "nonogram"). Add an age or a school class ("maths class 3", "puzzles for a 7 year old") to see only the games that start at that age. A spelling slip still finds the game.
What the ages mean
The age on a card is where a game starts to make sense, not where it stops. Most games have levels from Easy to Expert, so an older child will find plenty to do in a game marked for a younger one. To choose a level, look under the level cards on a game's start screen: a line there says which age each level suits, for example "Easy 6+ · Medium 8+ · Hard 10+ · Expert 12+".
- 3+
- No reading needed: colours, shapes and patterns.
- 6+
- Early reading and basic number work.
- 9+
- Fluent reading, times tables and puzzles that take several steps.
- 12+
- Abstract reasoning and a wide vocabulary.
How every game works
- Levels. Choose one on the start screen, or change it at any time from the chip at the top of the game.
- Hint helps with the next step. Skip swaps a puzzle for a different one.
- Rules. The start screen has a short "How to play"; the 📖 Rules link opens the full rules.
- No pressure. There are no points or streaks to lose. A solved puzzle earns stars and confetti, and there is always another one.
- Sound. Games make soft beeps, and some word games read aloud. Spell-a-Bee says the word to spell, so it needs the sound on.
Safety and privacy
- No ads, and no links out to other websites.
- No accounts. The games never ask for a name, an email address or anything else about your child.
- Nothing is saved. A game keeps its state only while its page is open, so there is no progress to lose and nothing left behind on a shared device.
- Visit statistics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which games and levels are played, which is how we learn what to fix and what to build next. Its advertising features are switched off, so those numbers are never used to target ads. Like most statistics tools, it stores a cookie in the browser.
- Search words. Words typed into the search box on the games page are included in those statistics, so we can see what people look for that we have not built yet. Nothing typed inside a game is sent anywhere.
- Other sites the pages load from. The lettering comes from Google Fonts, and Guess the Capital loads its flag pictures from flagcdn.com.
Playing on a phone or tablet
Every game is built for a phone first and works with a finger, a mouse or a keyboard. To keep Piklu one tap away, open the games page and use your browser's Add to Home Screen.
Came here from an activity book?
The code beside a puzzle in a Piklu activity book opens the same game here, where you can read its full rules or keep playing on screen.
